Divorce

A divorce, in law, can often mean nothing more than a license to get remarried.  A divorce is, however, the final legal termination of your union and may allow you to sever the emotional tie and move on with your life.

Divorces can be based upon three grounds: cruelty, adultery and separation of a year or more.  A divorce based upon separation can be commenced at any time but cannot be completed until the requisite year has passed.  We encourage people to settle the substantive issues arising from their separation prior to commencing an application in court for a divorce; however, what is or is not the best approach for you is something that can only be determined after you speak to one of our experienced team.  Call to see how the law applies to your specific case.
