Access
Although access, or the periods of time that a child
spends with the non-custodial parent, is something that is best dealt with on an
amicable basis within the confines of a parenting plan (see Custody),
it can often be a source of friction between separated spouses.
As a general rule, the parties should try to maximize the amount of time
that the children are with each parent. What
is appropriate is, as always, determined by looking at what is in the best
interests of the children. What is
right for each case varies. Only by
speaking with one of our experienced team can you assess, based upon the
children's ages, stages of development, place of residence vis-à-vis the access
parent, any allegations of abuse or special needs of the children, what is in
fact appropriate for your children. Call
for an appointment today.
